Every house remembers a good celebration. Castelli has had nearly seven decades of them. Come for a birthday dinner with family and friends, traditional Italian cooking and something from the cellar. The candles will disappear by the end of the evening. The memory has a habit of staying, in the heart of Addis Ababa.

Four times a year, La Firma at Castelli Addis Ababa opens the archive for dinner. Twelve guests. Dishes remembered for who ordered them. Recipes known only by the family. Their stories are told as the courses arrive. By the final one, there is only one thing left to serve. The guest book, with twelve new signatures.

One night a week, the room changes its tune. Ethio-jazz and the golden recordings of Addis play alongside Italian standards the family would have known in the fifties. Twenty seats. Records chosen one by one. Amaro, grappa and Ethiopian coffee follow an evening of traditional Italian cuisine, made with local Ethiopian produce. Take one of the twenty seats and stay for the listening.

Six wines. Two countries. One evening a month. Weyn & Vino pours Ethiopia beside Italy and lets each glass answer the next. The kitchen follows with dishes from both sides of Castelli’s story. The journey crosses both cellars. The final glass brings you back to Ethiopia.
